Monday 3rd June - walk *** – Landguard circuit – mainly cloudy.

No real plans today I managed my exercises in the back garden but only saw the sun in brief spells as the dark clouds rolled in but luckily we only got a few drops of rain but that put us off heading out on the bike so we had lunch at home and drove down to The Manor for another walk around Landguard Nature Reserve. It was a pleasant stroll despite the gloom with the reserve being full of wild flowers with a few linnets and a white throat spotted, turning right to the gate leading to Landguard Fort we spooked a small deer which bolted through the gate and ended up in the fort moat but it made it back to safety as it was trapped by a fence! We made it to the dock view point then headed towards the small wooden pier past the lovely yellow flowers, its amazing how well they grow in shingle and sand! There was a bit of boat action on the Orwell with an old yacht heading in with a huge spinnaker up and the pilot boat going the other way! With the tide low we walked back along the the wonderful beach and back to the van before going to Lidl for the weekly shop!
